What happens when playing hooky is the parent's idea | Toronto Star

I hope I don't lose my teacher discount card for admitting this, but playing hooky is so much fun! I never skipped school when I was younger, but as an adult I've joined the Dark Side. I blame my one-year leave of absence.

Taking a year off: Samosas and Maple Syrup | Toronto Star

Who am I, without my job? This past August and September, I watched the parade of back-to-school commercials without any of the usual butterflies and nightmares. This is because for the first time in 13 years, I did not report for active teacher duty.

    The 'Samosas and Maple Syrup' column began running regularly in the Toronto Star in September 2015. However, my very first column appeared earlier, in January 2015 ... when I gave my 7 year old son The Talk.
